Slingerland Yellow Jacket question

Loading...

Hi MB!

Very true about the K.I.S.S. principle! Modern pedals are, indeed, way too over-engineered!

I did have a "Jesse" SK and, in all honesty, it was a wonderful pedal! The action just wasn't for me, though. Had I started out with an SK, I'm sure I'd be whistling a different tune!

As I previously mentioned, I have a few Slingerland Tempo King pedals that are excellent. My Rogers Swivomatic has all the adjustments I need and I love that pedal, too!

I keep coming back to my vintage Camco. It's exactly the same pedal as the Gretsch Floating Action, so either one is a winner in my book. I own three and they are all quiet, smooth, and light. They are also easy to maintain and find parts for.

Well,I went back to MG and found a tension adjustment for the Yellow Jacket and tried it on a BD,it wasn't right for me.What is the advantage of a twin expansion spring system?

Just faster return of the beater. The extra weight of the footboard, rocker and linkage dictates more spring tension. Slingerland probably didn't want to look for a single spring with more tension, so they just went with what they had. If the pedal was complete, in good condition and reasonably priced, I'd be tempted to try it. But, not for their asking price and the overall condition of the pedal!
