Slingerland Wwii-era Radio King Snare

Loading...

I might have the opportunity to check out a WMP Radio King snare tomorrow. From what I've been told, this particular drum comes with the company's aluminum & maroon cloud badge (1945-1946), 3-point strainer and 16 beavertail lugs. If this information is accurate I believe it's got to be either a Hollywood Ace "Swing" Model, Buddy Rich Artist's "Swingster" Model, or a "Concert King" Model.

I'm wondering which of these models is most valued by the vintage drum community. I'd also like your input as to how the 3-point Radio King models from this era compare with the clamshell Radio King models in respect to collectibility and value.

Finally, if anyone's got any idea what might be considered fair market value for this particular drum (assuming it's in sound condition), I'd love to hear your thoughts.

As usual, thanks in advance for your time and your help!

Oldschool. the Rk is always going be more valuable than the concert king, the Rk is a solid shell with engraved rims, the concert king is 3ply shell no engraved rims. I prefer a 3 point over a clamshell evertime. they work far better than the clamshell does.all 4 of my Rk's are 3 point strainer models.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

I appreciate the input! Any idea what might be considered a "fair offer" for one like I described?

Don't know about the value, but I agree that the 3 point is more desireable than the clamshell strainer.
