Slingerland Wrap Question

Loading...

I need to find a wrap to match this Slingerland tom. I checked Jammin Sam and Precision, neither one had a wrap that matched exactly, although Precision was closer. Any ideas? Thanks.

If it's just a matter of tint, as opposed to chip-pattern, you can scuff the wrap with wet-sand paper and give it one or more coats of Minwax polyurethane, which will tone it down to less blue. I did this with silver sparkle and it worked perfectly. Let it sit for awhile after the first coat as it continues to darken over time, maybe a week or two.

Just a thought.

That's a thought, I know the wrap has aged and a new wrap won't match perfectly, thanks.

Hi jr! Yes, it is a matter of tint. Slingerland's Light Blue Pearl was fairly "blue" in the 60's and early 70's. Over time, as you've noted, it can take on silvery highlights. I've even seen many examples that have a green tint to it! DTF's suggestion sounds good and may be the way to go. Good luck!

Is there a safe way to restore the wrap on the tom? I'm thinking it might be easier to make it a closer match to the new wrap than the other way around.

This is the sky blue pearl that Jammin Sam offers.
