Slingerland tom seam repair

Loading...

Hello all,

I recently bought a Slinglerland tom and bass drum. While the bass drum is in excellent shape, the tom was rewrapped with some horrible plastic laminate. I pulled off the laminate, stripped the glue and paint, and noticed that the outer ply seam seemed to be coming apart, and looked like a repair had already been attempted.

What I'm wondering is if I can use a heat gun (blow drier) and scraper to (carefully) lift the seam, scrape off some glue, reglue and clamp it?? What are your guys thoughts on this? I'm kind of new at this...

Also that lifted seam is where the old wrap went under the scarf.... it's probably still in there.... look at the bearing edge at that point, and you can see it........ not much to do about it really.
