Has anyone ever seen a wooden one? I have seen them alluded to on the drum guide, I am just curious if anyone has ever seen one haha
And also why have dual strainer drums fallen out of production? Is it a cost issue?

I personally haven't seen a wooden one, or even pictures of a wooden one for that matter. I've only seen a brass one in person once, although pictures are easily found.
I can only speculate about why parallel snare systems aren't produced in bigger numbers. I wonder if part of the reason might be their (well-deserved) reputation for being more fragile and finicky than the common single throw, combined with higher cost. There are also single-throw extended snare designs that achieve similar benefits to parallel snare systems with less mechanical complexity.
Great sounding drum.....I have seen one super sound king wood shelled drum and it is owned by my friend...The wood ones are very rare.....I own two brass drums and they are great.......Heres a few quick shots........

My brass one is my most used snare I love it! Could you gett some snap shots of your friends drum I think we would all love too see it! Also if he decides to ever sell it can I place my name in the hat now? Lol
