Nothing I can see, with ne exception - the knob on the butt side of the snare that holds in the wires is a small slingerland knob - sometimes seen on tone controls. The big knob that came with the drum did not thread onto the post, but worked on the tone control. There was a white plastic roller from inside the striner missing, and I replaced it with one I bought at Lowes and drilled out. It works perfectly as a replacement part. It is held on by a pin that was missing when I bought the drum but, somehow, I had an extra for in an old box of nuts and bolts!

SO - this drum is 100% there, unless there is something I don't know. From the serial number and the strainer design, I believe this to be one of the earliest of Super Sound Kings.

Please let me know if you need to know anything else. I will try to post sound samples later this weekend.

Yep, I was thinking that a knob goes on both sides? And with the Big S strainer from '73, that there would be guards on both sides as well?

Looks like that in this catalog anyway, but I could be mistaken. The earlier model ('71) didn't have the Big S strainer.

Anyway, darn nice snare no matter what!

Sorry I did not see this sooner - YES it is on eBay for a 30 day sale. If I don't get my price for it, I will sit on it for a while. After all, they don't "go bad!"x-mas3
