Slingerland Spirit Bass Drum Pedal Questions

Loading...

Hey folks,

My father recently gave me his 1986 Slingerland spirit 1000 drum kit.

The kit is complete with a the original stands/pedals that came with the package.

The drums are in great shape, but the stands/pedals are gonna need a some love...

Basically, what I need to ask about is the Slingerland Spirit line bass drum pedal. It is listed as no.1938 in the catalog.

The hoop clamp to the pedal is missing and Im trying to locate a picture or example of what it looks like.

Anyone have one or have a picture of the complete pedal? In particular, closeups of the hoop clamp area? I have the catalog scans, but none come up close enough to identify much...

Thanks!

I'm not a Slingerland expert, especially during that period but the Spirit line was there budget line that was meant to compete with the imports that were killing them. I believe the hardware for the spirit line was all imported and the pedal looks very much like a lot of the MIJ generic pedals that were on the market during that period. Slingerland was in bad shape at this time and ownership would change hands several times before eventually be acquired by Gibson. During this time more and more manufacturing was moved to Taiwan.

As thin shell points out, the Spirit line were import drums and hardware, all made in Taiwan. The 1938 pedal design can be found from other off-shore brands. I found a NOS 1938 on eBay here...https://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-92-SLINGERLAND-SPIRIT-SERIES-BASS-DRUM-PEDAL-S1938-NOS/123389746581?hash=item1cba9a1d95:g:RCIAAOSwTmlbcv8b

This is the newer design. His Buy it Now price is absurd! Yes, it's NOS, but it's still an MIT pedal at its core. I believe the hoop clamp is still the same as the older 1938.

Yeah, I saw this one. He’s nuts on that price.

Basically, my parents have misplaced the clamp, and I’m attempting to get a photo of it so they know what to look for...lol

I think the best you could hope for is to possibly find one on the internet, such as eBay or Reverb, and hope that there might be a picture of the part in question. Could take some time, but you never know what might show up!
