Slingerland Sound King Strainer help

Loading...

Can anyone tell me what strainer I would need for this snare? I attached a few pics of the hole pattern. I believe it's a COB Sound King...Dr. CJW says 1960's.

Anyone have a used assembly for sale? I anticipated it needing a Zoomatic so I searched and found my old Zoomatic only to find it probably used an earlier version...

Any help or direction is appreciated!!!!

Looking at pics - is there any chance this is a COB Radio King? What is the difference.....? Was it the strainer used that made the difference?

Again, any help finding Strainer parts that would utilize the same mounting holes is appreciated...

Looks like a late '60s COB Radio King. Will need a 3 point throw-off and a set of the last version bridges / butt side. In the '30s those bridges were held on by 4 screws (2 on each side). Pretty early on, they switched to 6 screws, but in the late '60s, they went to two screws.

I think you can get away with the the six screw bridges, just using the middle screw hole. Most 3 pt. Slingerland strainers will fit...you should try to find the one where the piece that holds the snares bends out.

Thanks. I found a Zoomatic strainer in my basement...and actually the butt also. Believe it or not the gentleman that I purchased the initial snare with RK strainer holes had a Sound King drilled for a Zoomatic arrive a couple days later - he let me simply trade. I also fitted a spring in the strainer as the article here suggests...I can't wait to see the difference as the Zoomatic was in the basement for a reason :o
