I have a Slingerland snare I bought while in college 13 years ago. It came with a pile of drums and various pieces of junk hardware. The snare needed some parts, it had a broken Ludwig P85 throw, bad heads, etc. I decided it was a future project and chucked it into the closet. About 5 years ago, I decided to try to fix it up. I am not knowledgeable in Slingerland at all, so I bought a zoomatic throw for it on ebay. I came to the conclusion that it needed a zoomatic because all the snares for sale had one. Luckily, the holes drilled in the shell agreed. However, I never got it to operate properly.
The zoomatic appears to be from the 70s. I want to get the throw to work correctly so I can use it more often. Right now, the fine control knob does absolutely nothing to change snare tension.
Anyway, it has been a shelf dweller since then. I decided to research it a little tonight, since I found the vintage drum guide. It appears to be an early 60s Gene Krupa Sound King 5x14 8 lug. The serial is 69783. Does that make it a 62/63? Off hand, does anybody have a guess what its valued at?
btw, I'm gonna keep it
