Just did a search for bee’s wax for wooed, and came up with too much information.

What brand or kind of bee’s wax do you use?

There are all kinds, some with olive oil, some with mineral spirits, etc.

The only thing I haven’t found (to my surprise) is “gluten free”

Use 100% natural, it's a few dollars more but worth it. Petroleum bi-products and olive oil/ mineral oils will stain wood and not dry completely.

Thank you - that’s one of the ones I looked at. The price is not out of line, either.

It will go on like you wet the wood with water and turn it darker, the next day it will look like you did nothing at all.

Wait a day or two, between coats.

The exterior shell has been cleaned and three layers of wax applied. The interior has two. Oats of beeswax.

There is a rough ridge about 1.5 inches long on the bottom bearing edge - I think it’s excess dried wood glue, suggesting a repaired crack. I plan to smooth it down.

Current question: what model is this? I checked the 1963 catalogue, but didn’t see it. The catalogue for 1962 isn’t available.

6 lugs and 5-1/2" shell? Student model.

Yesterday I saw a Slingerland snare, described as 1963, and the inside of the shell was ink-stamped with a “P.”

I understand now that the M on the inside of the shell I’m working on indicates a maple outer shell, as in maple-poplar-mahogany.

I can’t decipher what the “P” might be saying.

"P" is pearl covering. The drum was/is wrapped and has mahogany exterior ply in most cases,

Ah. That didn’t occur to me. I was focusing only on a wood ply.
