Slingerland snare OR MARCHING snare?

Loading...

Hi everyone.

I recently bought me a Slingerland Concorde (??? ) , Copper finish, without a snare.

And there is a guy selling a snare, but he think it´s a marching snare... Any one know if this is a marching snare or not? Serie nr is 253471

Size 35cm x 27cm (13,8" x 10,6" deep- strange mesure, he perhaps messure wrong?)

Price 1000 sek / 100 euro / 120$ . Is it good price?

And if it´s a marching snare, how good are they to use as ordinay snare...? Good, bad...?

U can see it here:

Way to much money. It looks like there is a mount on the side and the drum is in poor shape.

Unless your in a country where inventory is really hard to find. I would stay away from this for that price

Ok. It seems that this is a Marching snare, and not "usualy" snare. In Sweden vintage stuff is much more expensive than in UK or USA.

I sew lot of ( in no so good condition) Ludwig acrolite on US e-bay , get selled for 70-80 $ . In Sweden, a cheap acrolite cost from 280$ or more. So 120$ for a Ludwig vintage, Rogers, Slingerland is estimate as 30 $ in USA.

But I understaind that a Marching snare not bring the same value as "ususaly" snares. So I will not buy hat one, at least not for that price.

superfly,

That's a lot of money here in the USA or a drum like that, but since the situation in Sweden is different, it's difficult for us to make an estimation of value.

The Acrolite is a world-renowned drum that always sounds great no matter what the price. That Slingerland marching snare will have a less universal appeal in terms of the sound it will make...but sound is ALWAYS a subjective thing.

Some people have used the marching snare with a drum set application. One thing about a drum that deep, is that it's hard to get a snare stand that will will be low enough to allow drum set positioning.
