Slingerland snare identify help

Loading...

Hello!

Does anyone has any information about this Slingerland snare?

Size is 14x6,5" and it has 12 lugs and 4 airholes.

There is also 2 extra holes, so I guess there has been a demper at some point.

Was it original?

Serial number is 405xxx, so it's from late 70's or early 80's?

Magnet doesn't stick and there is 3 stripes on the shell, so it's COB?

Strainer is some kind of parallel and it looks a bit like those old Duall strainers.

I'll add some more pics soon.

Any kind of information is welcome, also the price estimates.

Thank you.

I'll take a stab. My money's on the 200 Series Chromed Brass 6.5 x 14. I think the strainer is modified. It states that it's manufactured in Niles and there weren't many choices for that time period that fit this. The 200 series seems to be the only one with this depth and 12 lugs. Anybody else?

We are crossing posts on this drum.

It is not a Slingerland Strainer. It was never in a Slingerland Catalog.

If you own this drum take the heads off and give us detailed interior photos.

Until then it looks like someone did a very creative upgrade.

If you have not already looked there is an extensive collection of Slingerland Snare Drum Catalog pages that covers this era of snare drum.

Ok, I looked inside of the drum and there was 2 small extra holes. (pic 3)

Those 2 other holes are from tone contorl.

So it's modified after all. But quite nice job anyway,

can't find any extra holes outside.

The strainer is very good and sensitive, and it works perfectly.

So i'ts most likely 200 series with changed stariner.

Thank you everybody for your help.

Looks like a Pearl Jupiter, the super sensitive parallel strainer, model strainer to me. Someone didn't do such a bad job of it, but it makes you wonder......WHY?

It's a pearl Jupiter strainer for sure. Puresound makes replacement wires for these snaredrums.

It's a very good strainer, much better than the original wich probably got broken (I think thats.... Why). The Pearl Jupiter snare is a great snaredrum and good value for money.

Makes me wonder why someone would demolish a great pearl drum to get a Slingerland snare back in working order but its a nice job and I'm sure its a nice sounding snare
