Slingerland slapshot strainer

Loading...

Just got a Slingerland 8 x 14 COW snare for Christmas. It's in excellent condition but needs new snare wires. The slapshot strainer has unique snare wires. The butt end piece is bent at 90 degrees. I've never seen this before and a cursory search online hasn't yielded any replacements.

Has anyone dealt with this before? Any suggestions?

Hi Scotty!

The Slapshot strainer system was unique to Slingerland. Basically, it kept the wires under tension all the time, even with the strainer in the "off" position. I did a quick Google search and it appears that Puresound did offer a set of wires at one time for the Slapshot. Part number SS-1334. You might get lucky and find some on the internet. You can also find pictures of the Slapshot and may be able to figure out how to make a set from wires that are already available. I'm hoping that others on this forum can shed some light for you. Good luck!

After a little searching, it appears that the Puresound wires were PSS-1420. I found this link... https://www.brookmays.com/i--PSS1420--PURESOUND--14-Slnglnd-Slapshot-Snr.aspx

Worth a try!
