I have an opportunity to buy a Slingerland snare which appears to be from the 50's, but which has single flange hoops with clips for the tension rods. It's a 6 1/2 x 14 drum, with a very yellowed WMP finish. Several of the clips are broken, so I can't get any idea what the drum sounds like.

It looks pretty similar to the ones listed in the excerpt from the 40's Slingerland catalog in the section on hoops on the vintagesnaredrum.com site, but it has a gold oval badge - which is why I say it appears to be from the 50s. The badge and finish look like what's shown in the section on Slingerland WMP finishes, identified as being from 1954 (except the finish is much more yellow).

It has a three point strainer, though part of the lever is missing.

Would you be able to give me any information on where this type of drum fit into the Slingerland product line in the 50's ? Would it have been a less expensive model ? Would replacement parts be difficult to come by ?

Thanks in advance for any information you might have.

Bill
