What can you tell me about this besides, it's a re-wrap, 3 ply toms from 60's? 5 ply Bass from 70's?

And whats a fair price?

Thanks.

Thanks Drumbum. Would you only pay $400 because it's mixmatched?

Or because its of inferiror quality?

Sorry I dont know that much about Slingerland drums.

I wouldn't say its poor quality, Slingerland three ply shells are great. Not so sure of the five ply bass though. Is it made in the U.S. ?

I'm not sure if it's U.S.

How can I tell?

Well it's a great looking set. I think anything under $700 is fair.

Poor quality absolutely not.

Is the bass shell lacquered maple on the inside ? Then it's likely a bonafide USA shell from the '70's and it's a good shell...it just doesn't match the others. Slingy made 2 kinds of quality shells (well, 3, sorta)...

their 3-plys mahog/poplar and maple/poplar

and their heavier 5-plys in maple/poplar

The latter came about as more rock-oriented kits in the '70's.

Nice job on the rewrap and stuff....am not a huge fan of the tom on the stand as opposed to integral slingy mount to the bass.

Those bass spurs aren't right, are they? They look like the standard generic spurs.

Good eye. yes, basically the kit was rewrapped and it appears the old mounting hardware was replaced with new (or nothing, in the case of the tom mount). So...Q's become...how well were the old holes filled, etc ?

Nothing wrong with that, perhaps the shells were rescued from a worse fate. I do that from time to time...they still make a nice drum set...it just becomes hard to call it vintage any longer....

Honestly...Rob, I dunno if this is your kit or a kit you were thinking of purchasing, but probably the $400 range is about right.

Looking at it another way, one can land a Slingy kit with factory original stuff, 3-pc., for about $500 in fair/decent shape, $550-600 in good shape....so most folks would tend towards those instead.

Not my kit, nor am I eyeing it. I've got two Slingy kits in pieces in the garage now as it is. LOL I'm just trying to learn more about 'em as Slingerland has never been my specialty.
