Slingerland Red Tiger

Was this finish available in 63? I don't see it in the catalog but you never know. I'm thinking it might be a date smudge and it's actually a 68?

My understanding is that Slingerland's Red Tiger Pearl was offered between 1970 and 1973.

Oldschool is on the money with his date's at least that is also what the rob cook book indicates!!1970-1973,:2Cents:

Red tiger pearl was introduced in '68 in a flyer with white and yellow tiger.

The pattern changed a bit around 1970. Then it was discontinued around 1973.

I got my red tiger set in '72 or so...still have it. I added a 10 x 14 concert tom. Then I wanted to add some more concert toms and got a letter from Slingerland that the finish was discontinued. I still have the letter.

It certainly wasn't around in '63. What drum(s) in red tiger have you found...I'm really interested in all Slingerlands in the tiger finishes.

My primary kit now is a red tiger stage band set and I still use my 22 13 16 and even the matching Hollywood Ace.

Rich - I'm going to go and get my hands on it but I'm thinking it's a '68 rock outfit or modern solo. It's really hard to tell from one little pic. If the wrap is in good shape, which I've been told it is (it has a chrome snare with it too) I'm gonna grab it.

Slingerland used that finish on their catalog page for the Modern Solo outfit and they often sent out sets to dealers in the same colors as the catalogs...

If they're in nice shape I hope you get them. They're my favorite!

BTW...I have '60s Hollywood Ace that I would consider selling if you end up with the set...
