I don't have any snares on it or even in the room....
I'm going to check all the internal screws next, as you suggested.....
Thanks, man!!

....just something that I didn't think about before. I think that these lugs have springs inside of them. The spring and felt within the lugs may have either loosened or degraded and now vibrate when the shell resonates. I'd bet that those are the problem. You may have to remove and disassemble them all. I think that the felt may have been removed or has slipped. This is meant to keep them from vibrating excessively while allowing them to function as intended. I'm not positive on this because I have never disassembled them or experienced your problem, but it makes sense to me.
I believe that the link below shows an exploded view of your lugs...

I hope you figure out your problem! Keep us posted!
I was thinking lug nut earlier, I'll check-em out......
Thanks
I see many Student Radio Kings Listed on EBay and they are usually listed as Radio Kings. I try and nicely email the seller and ask him to revise his ad out of fairness to people who do not know the differnce. they usually do not. Most of the people selling these student RKs know damn well what they are selling and try to stick it to the next guy.
ON THE POSITIVE SIDE - the hardware is always worht something. The strainers have been going for around $60, stick chopper rims can go for different prices, I have seen 20-25 bucks. I doubt you have the gates, most student levels did not.
IF you are really interested in getting a Radio King - get Rob Cook's book on Slingerland Drums. it is EXCELLENT. Also - right now there is someone on EBay selling an older RK that needs some TLC but could be a great drum - given the time to fix it up. someone did a crappy job on the refinish, but you can redo that. I have 2 refinished RKs and I love them. I know that collectors want the original paint, etc, but I wanted drums I was going to play. Thank you for the great information! I learned a good lesson with that purchase, haha! I traded for a Radio King with a matching set this weekend, actually. It was nice because I was able to see them, play them, and tweek them before I made the deal. I'm loving this kit!...the snare is going to get fixed soon hopefully. My acrolite is playing substitute, haha.
