Slingerland Radio King snare drum 40's 14"/7"

Loading...

Hello, I recently stumbled across a guy that claims to be selling a 1940's Radio King snare drum, for 500EUR (706.9 US$). So now I'm wondering, he only supplied two pictures and after searching high and low through the jungle that is the internet, I haven't been able to find anything like it. 6 lugs on the batter and resonant side, but they're all turned-like.. I mean, I don't even know how to put that into words.

Can anyone tell me anything more about this drum and is it worth the buy?

Thanks!

That is what is commonly referred to as an "offset" lug design. Looks like WW2 era 'Rolling Bomber' because of the wooden hoop. Lugs are probably replacements, snare side hoop is a replacement. I'm not so sure a matching hoop would be very easy to find on a drum like that. If you're going for collectability I would pass; however, it probably sounds pretty good!

I was actually going for playability =D. How much would you say it's worth..? Approximately.

Yeah, that's a modified rolling bomber. Not really collectible at this point due to the changed lugs, throw off and bottom hoop. The beauty of those drums was the rosewood hardware that is now missing...

For that kind of $ you could get a nice player radio king that's in original condition.
