Slingerland "Knotty Pine" floor tom.

Loading...

I've got a 50's 16" x 14" Slingerland Knotty Pine floor tom for sale. I've

had this drum for over 25 years. It has both COB hoops and original

nickle-plated lugs. The leg mounts are there, too, but one of the tension

adjusters is missing. I'd describe the overall condition as good. You could

leave it alone, by cleaning it up, or re-wrap (I know, a sin). I know this

finish is pretty rare. Someone (factory?) wrote the words "knotty pine"

in pencil on the inside of the shell. I do not recall ever seeing a K P floor

tom on E-Bay in the past, but sometimes a partial set or snare. If you

want to see an example of the knotty pine finish, there's a k p snare on

E-Bay now. The shell of this drum is in good shape structurely. Thanks.

I would like to see this tom go to someone that has most of a set in this finish. That would be rare. What are you thinking??

The "pine" coating on this tom is very thin--thinner than a normal wrap.

Ther's a few spots on the shell where the Pine has come off, but a black

My response, continued...the black layer is beneath the pine finish. The

shell appears to be mohogany. The lugs are nickle in their finish, as well as

the hoops/rims. Are you the ex Slingerland employee? I have another

question for you, if you are. I have a '65 S-land set with a 20" Floor tom.

This 20" tom has a 1962 date stamped inside it. How rare are these 20"

floor toms??? Thanks for your help. Also, any idea of the $$ value of the

Knotty Pine floor tom??

This one is kinda........ just too good for the masses, I guess.

I'm more intrigued with how Mcjnic's soup turned out, actually.
