Slingerland Parade snare drum

I saw one similar to this recently on eBay....I think it went for $110 or so. I don't know much about Slingerland drums - I should buy some books and study up.

But for now.....

The owner here wants $120 for this one...........

It has the black oval badge.

Sorry for the photo quality - this is the drum hanging in the store.

Are they realtively rare.....is $120 a good price for this?

Gary I agree with mikey. it's overpriced, also the bottom rim is a ludwig rim not a slingerland stick saver., but if this drum comes with the slingerland drum key that is pictured, you could get most of your purchase price off the drum key alone.also the zoomatic strainer routinely sale for $50.00+ dollars.

I agree with Mikey and VTM2000, Kona.

A prime example of the typical Slingerland drum being worth twice it's value in parts as opposed to complete.

A 10x14 Slingerland marcher was my first refurbish project, VTM 2000 helped me put the badge back on....

Wish mine had a key, dang...

Thanks guys - this really helps.

What do I look for regarding the key - does it have Slingerland written on it? And should it not have a key-holder like yours Kevin?

Got a photo of a Slingerland stick-saver hoop?

Kona, looks like it has a key in a key holder under the muffler knob, like VTM pointed out?

Looks like it, anyway.....

It's difficult for me to tell by my photo - not knowing about Slingerland. When I looked at my photo it looked like someone put a screw in the shell and attached a no-name brand key to it.

Would the key actually have Slingerland stamped into it.

Should I run out and offer him $75 for the drum. I know he won't take it though.....he's pretty firm on prices. If it's not well worth $120 and a good deal for me I'm not interested in it. On these kind of drums they're nice to have but I want to know I'd at least get my money back if and when I sell it. I have too many drums as it is. I have this disease....coming down with it at least....that works like this.....I'm sure you can relate: Everytime I see an old drum I have to look at it and maybe even buy it. I have had some theropy - I'm 'in-the-program' - but it's going to be a tough thing to beat. And quite frankly I'm enjoying the illness...........for nowx-mas2

Gary, the drum key should have slingerland stamped into the t handle of the drumkey. but from the pic I can't tell for sure ifd that is a slingerland drum key or not it looks kind of like an old ludwig drum key. but $75.00 would be a better price.

I have to disagree a bit with the trend here, because this drum has a mahogany shell...or at least a mahogany outer ply. $100 is reasonable.

Good to know - all this - it seems like $100 would be fare if I did want to buy the drum. I was looking at it more from a view that if it was a very good deal and a "special" drum then I would be interested. Not saying it's not a nice drum at a reasonable price though. I'm looking for 'different' or that 'special' drum.

Thanks for the help.

I have a lot to learn about vintage drums....pretty much just scraping the surface in the last few years = fun stuff.
