Slingerland P-Stamp Colors

Loading...

Anyone know what years Slingerland used different P-stamp colors? I just picked up a bunch of re-wrapped Slingy drums from different era's. Most have a really dark black P with clear maple interiors/re-rings and I am assuming are from the 70's due to the sizes (14 inch and 15 inch rack toms). The floor tom I am thinking may be from the 60's because it has a light faded red P stamp and had a COB sticksaver hoop. Just wondering if there is a thread somewhere that has the info on different ink used for Slingy P stamps.

Thanks

I always assumed that it was always a black P stamp, so I'll be interested to hear if anyone as information on the red P stamp.

The only thing wrong with that theory is that the 13 inch tom I have with set of drums I believe to be the oldest and it has the black P-020 stamp. Or at least I think it is oldest because it has the Mahagony colored inner shell with Maple Re-rings (As opposed to Maple on Maple with the rest of the drums) and it has holes for the older tone control.

Not to intrude, but, the '62, '63, and '64 Slingerlands I have (and have had) all have black ink.....don't know about the '66 champagnes that are the way.

Are your drums 3-ply, maple interior with re-rings ?

Merry Christmas

They are all 3 ply Maple interiors with re-rings. Except for the 13 inch tom I mentioned that had the darker more mahogany color shell with maple (lighter colored re-rings)
