Slingerland Muffler, '60's vs. 70's...Different?

Loading...

So, I have a few mufflers sitting in my "parts bin" and want to make sure that I put the correct one in the Super SK. The one I took out had a slight bend in the threaded rod that the knob screws onto (Left). The other ones I have, all SK, are straight...one from 67/68 and one from '71.

The one with the bend was difficult to screw the knob, so replaced with straight one....

Judging from some of the stuff on the drum when I got it, not sure what is correct....and then, should I care? Possible they built them with both style mufflers, whatever was within arms reach at the time.

But, if you tell me that the one on the left is correct for a '73 Super Sound King/Sound King, I will change it back.

Thanks!

Okay, cool....thread work done, knob turns both ways easily and smoothly. Cleaned and ready to put in the SSK!

Now my SSK is correct, except for one strainer guard and the correct 70's t-rods with the little nub.

Thanks!
