Slingerland Modern Solo, 2-N, color...

Hi all,

Had a question about a Slingerland 1970-1973, Modern Solo 2-N. I am looking for one, in sparkle orange pearl, 1970- 1973 ?

Has anyone ever seen one, or matter of fact seen any model in that color? Must be very rare....Thanks Bucky

Orange drums are one of my "things" but I've never seen any orange sparkle Slingerlands in person and only seen a couple on ebay over the years, but I think those were both marching drums. I wouldn't say they don't exist but finding that color in that precise configuration is probably going to be a pretty tall order. Tangerine Gretsch (or orange Kents) are likely relatively "common" in comparison...but you never know.

Just looked through my pictures and did find a New Rock outfit, in Sparkling Orange Pearl, that was listed on eBay in October, 2005. Not sure if it sold or not. That's the ONLY Slingerland Orange pearl kit listed in my 1000's of Slingerland pictures! So, yes, a tall order finding another one!

Thanks Mark,

I was looking through my Slingerland book and saw this finish. I have never seen this color before, must be really rare, guess it's time to hit the road.... I don't know about the model either.

Wow Mark, 1000's of Slingerland photos. That is a collection in and of itself. Think how much less room that takes up over real drums!! And, low and behold, you had an orange sparkle picture with data to go with it. Remarkable, and helpful to Bucky to boot.

At least we know they made one set that's exactly what he's looking for, shell-wise.

That is encouraging!

Dan!

Yep, too much time on my hands! LoLoLoLo

I'm sure I'm not the only one to download pictures of "stuff" we like! For me, it's drums and vintage stereo equipment. Literally thousands and thousands of pictures, mostly from eBay over the years. Most times, I also include the complete listing, along with what the item sold for. More of just a hobby with me! Still, it's great when I have pictures that are useful to others, so, I'll keep on downloading! Also, these are for my personal reference and NEVER sold or distributed for profit!

A Slingy set in that configuration in need of a new wrap should be priced reasonably. Just a quick peek at Jammin Sm's site showed that he lists Tangerine and Super Tangerine Glass Glitters and tangerine Sparkle wraps for sale. That could work out for someone who wanted that drum set in that wrap.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Yes, at least ONE kit! I don't think Orange was very popular with most drummers. Same thing for Purple! I really love my Sparkling Purple Pearl kit!

Mark,

Is your purple set a Rock 50N, I am confused about the difference in the Rock, and Modern Solo, 2 - R. Seems that the only difference is the size of the toms until 1968, then both had 8x12 and 9x13 sizes, but I know the sparkle orange pearl will be hard to find.... Did you have your set rewrapped, or original ? Thanks.
