Never saw that finish inside a slingy before.

I'll play.

I've got two guesses.

One - It's a Remo shell from the "odyssey" test-market experiment Slingerland did back then. The lugs and such don't have to match 'cause Slingerland wasn't a stickler on the kits during that phase as they never made them a part of the Slingerland line offering.

Two - It's a coating applied aftermarket, like the fiberglass stuff that some do to the insides of drums (Peart).

If I'm right, what do I win?

mcjnic: THANKS for your input. If you're right and it was up to my beloved wife, the entire kit (plus several others) would be yours. Fortunately (for me, that is) it's not her call!
