Slingergretsch

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

...pulled an old snare shell out of my "drum junk" closet and after researching was informed that although it had Slingerland h.w and an obviously cheap ugly re-wrap, it was actually an early 60's gretsch 8 lug shell. on the recomendation of a very prominent drummer friend, I sent it to Mike Ambrozewski in Quincy, MA for restoration. What came back to me was one of the most beautiful, best sounding snares I've ever owned. He wrapped it in WMP, trued the edges and cut new beds, straightened a bent rim, fixed the zoomatic so that it is now like new, filled extra holes except for the old Gretsch ones, (to show that it was a Gretsch)..because it's not a purebread, I left the badge off. because it has all Slingerland h.w. I call it my Slingergretsch....it sounds so pure....can't wait to gig on it.
