Slingerland Hollywood Ace

Hi Folks,

Just sharing here my latest addition to the collection.

I picked this one up from the Bay a couple of weeks ago.

The description said:

Awesome Sounding Vintage Slingerland Snare w/original Sound King Heads!! This was my Grandfathers Drum which was seldom played!!

Serial # 227364

Niles, Illinois USA

The pictures were not that good but I could see that the original heads were still on and that overall, the drum looked OK. The seller, a real stand up guy, wasn't willing to ship overseas but fortunately my good buddy Aaron (elmoonlightdrummer), collected the drum and forwarded it to me,… big thanks.

2 hours of cleaning and the result is a 100% original and clean late 1960's silver sparkle Hollywood Ace. The wrap has aged slightly towards a beautiful gold/lime/silvery color.

Oh yes,… it sounds amazing!

Great pics, Stef! Glad to see that it made it overseas safely and cleaned up so nicely! Gotta love the fact that it is 100% original and in fantastic shape!

Thanks guys,

Aaron,... it is indeed a great pleasure to clean, play and hold an instrument that's in exacty the same shape as it was when it left the factory 40+ years ago.
