Slingerland Grommet Tool

Loading...

Hello VDF

Want to know everyone's thoughts on the new slingerland grommet tool being sold on ebay.

I'm not interested in buying one, my questions is if anyone is concerned about non original badges being fastened to period correct drums? I'm not hugely concerned but I wonder how others would feel if the drum was fully original other than a replaced badge and grommet and if that would affect the value of a drum?

personally I know which badges belong on the year model drum it is on. Also the correct grommets. But this tool does a professional finished job that would make it hard for the uneducated too tell the difference between factory and a re installed badge.

Would you offer someone less for a drum with a replaced badge and grommet?

And if anyone has the tool, would you tell potential buyers the badge has been replaced with a period correct badge?

If the job was performed correctly I would offer the going rate for that drum. Yes I would disclose if the badge had been removed and then re installed. A good example would be the 60's/70's Slingerland grommets the factory ones are aluminum. the new repops are not aluminum. So that would be a dead giveaway.
