i've been looking at the following kit, but i cant figure out if its a kit that's been pieced together and rewrapped or not. the serial numbers given ranged from 19xxx to 164xxx. any thoughts would be appreciated.

Publius, Welcome to the VDF. the color is a real slingerland color that ran from 1964 to 1977, it looks to not be a re-wrap, serial #'s can have this wide of a range to them, there was no rhyme or reason to the way they where put on in sequence!! the snare drum is a 5 1/2x14 not a 5" this looks to be a cool kit! here's a very helpful link for you also! http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/drcjw/articles.html

thanks for the reply. in looking through old slingerland catalogs from your link, i don't see an 18" floor tom until the 70's. that's why i wonder if this kit isn't pieced together from one or two kits of different vintage.

Yeah the floor tom may have been added latter! for it to be a buddy rich kit it would be two 16" toms! ask the seller for more pics and Info if your going to pull the trigger on this kit!

I have seen this kit before, I think. If I'm not mistaken, he came here several months ago seeking info.

That's a pretty cool kit. Personally, I would have to see all of the badges inside and out, inners of the shells, edges, and that snare mech. Those items would tell the tale for me.
