Slingerland Expresso kit?

Loading...

I came across a Slingerland Expresso kit a few days ago and I was just wondering if anyone knows about them?

The guy is asking $160 for the Expresso drums plus a Pearl floor tom (16X16), Tama tom tom (14X12?), three Wuhan cymbals and a foot pedal. He said he bought them new in 2002. It sounds like a pretty good deal but I have heard thats Slingerlands newer drums are not very good quality. Any advice?

Thanks!

[COLOR="DarkRed"]$150 is a great deal, regardless, if you need some drums. Worst case scenario you can resell the Slingerlands for $200 and keep the rest, or sell the Tama & Pearl for $80 and end up with a cocktail kit for $70.

With that said...you are correct...the name Slingerland is all that is left of that drum company. I lost track of who owns the rights to the name...Gibson, maybe ?

In any case, these drums are not anything special. Just asian-produced industry standard stuff with modern hardware which is the same design as vintage Slingy, but not anywhere near the quality. They aren't bad, they just aren't bona-fide Slingerlands as we know them to be.

It's a shame that such a respected name would still be attached to these things. But...nothing all that odd (same thing happened to the Rogers name). Corporations that wanna make a buck know they can bank on name recognition.

So...if you want a modern cocktail kit for nothing, one which probably is fairly decent...go for it. I would buy it.... just out of curiosity and just because it's a ridiculously low price...
