Slingerland: Early '70's Red, White and Blue Kit

Hi All,

Reviewing the Vintage Drum Guide for Slingerland finishes, I could not find the finish for a set I played from 1970-1974 in my high school jazz band in Brooklyn, Michigan.

To my recollection, each drum shell was wrapped in a Sparkling Red, White/Silver and Blue Pearl Crushed Glass striping with the top and bottom band of the shell in silver, then two blue and the center stripe in red. The front bass drum head was complete with a large, perfectly centered blue star just below the Slingerland logo.

Does anyone have any knowledge of this kit? It must have appeared in one of Slingerlands catalogs, however, I have not been able to locate it. Any history of this set (with pics?) would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I've got pics of Slingerland's 1976 "Bi-Centennial" Red, White & Blue Kit, but not the one you're speaking of.
