oooomph...that's a horribly sad story.....

Yep, it made me cry for him. I felt very bad for him and I'm glad now that I cared. He could not get anyone to bid on his stuff because he was brand new to ebay, had zero feedback, and didn't even know how to put pics on. I contacted him by phone and when he told me the story I couldn't keep myself from trying to help him. I helped the old guy over the phone through getting some pics on his listing that 2nd day but then later he called and said everyone was a rude ass on ebay to him who wrote him. Being I was the only one to call and talk to him and the only one who showed some love for his old stuff the guy actually tried to give me everything after I was the only bidder. I didn't take it of course, but when I opened the first box it was full of items that were not on his listing with a simple note that said enjoy. 4 more large boxes followed. When I put the bid in I wasn't 100% sure if it wasn't an excellent scam, but instead I'll be love'n his thermogloss kit till I die.

You should feel honored, I'm sure you do.

That makes them very special.

Play the sh*t out of them.

ah relief. I woke up thinking I better delete my last post because some may think thats just to much info, and I was thinking people won't understand how it made me feel. Thanks for understanding tho, it did make it a very special deal to me as well as a once in a lifetime find on a set I've always wanted. I want to give the guy all the credit. Somehow I'll mark the shells dedicated in his memory, just don't know how I should do it yet. So again back ti the hats, anyone know who made them yet? I called the guy and he said he bought them from the drum center in san francisco, and later it becomes drumworld of san francisco and that it's still in bussiness. He didn't know who made them and he thought they sounded good to him so he bought them. He also like me was leaning toward zildjian. I'm going to take a shot at calling drumworld here in a bit.

Not to throw a monkey-wrench into anything...but...those don't look very Zilco/Zildjian-esque to me. They look more Italian.Slingy did use stock cymbals made in Italy for a time.Far be it from me to contradict Mr. Cook...but...stylistically (bell, lathing, hammering) those look Italian to me.

sorry it took a while to do the side by side but check it out, it's there now, as well I have the zildjian and the case listed now. let me know what you think.

I took a look again...the hammering just looks Italian to me...a wider peen, rounder hammerprint than Zildjians....just my opinion based upon the pics....

Ahh, I see what you mean now, thanks for the input. Any idea what that 20" I put up might bring?
