Trying to get some info as to when Slingerland started stamping the shells, specifically snares. The reason I have a couple of early, looped S snares in Capri Pearl. I have a Clamshell stamped Dec 58. and an early 3point with no stamp. I think Capri was offered from 58,so I'm thinking the 3point may be early 58?
Slingerland Date Stamp, Started?
Here they are. As some have stated not all have stamps. 2nd from left is dated May 58 up to the right dated 65.
Per Dr CJ Wenk solid shell maple snares did not have date stamps. 3-plies have date stamps although they can be removed. As to the start year of date stamps we have all seen date stamps from '58 through '66. Does anyone have a drum with a '55,'56 or '57 date stamp?

My 58 is solid with a stamp. It seems they could be a bit hit and miss.
Cool. Could we see a picture of that one?
This is the one.
That is a remarkably clean date stamp and first I've seen on a solid shell. Looks like you may have an exception to the rule there. Anyone else have a solid shell with a date stamp?
Cool, That is a brand new stamp. They would wear down pretty fast on wood/not cleaned hence fuzzy dates most of the time. Don't think any of my closed S badge snares are stamped.
