Hi John,
Indeed, I went for both. The same day I bought the 16" on Ebay, I found a 18" on CL. I negotiated the price for the 18" down to a very acceptable 200Usd shipped. Unfortunately the seller refused to ship to Europe. Luckely we have this fine community so a fellow VDF member was kind enough to accept and forward it to Europe.
Date-wise the 18" is quite close to the BD and toms and sounds spectacular!
The 16" is 5-ply, a bit younger and without re-rings but also sounds phenomenal.
I had heard great things about the 1970's Slingerlands and Luddies and I must say, every word is true. The 6,5" COB Krupa is the cherry on the cake.
Including shipping, I have spend a little over 500 Euro in total. With the snare, it would bring the total to 750 Euro. Not cheap but sound-wise, you would have to look very hard and spend probably a few thousands for an equaly good sounding modern kit.
Great Outfit Stedi....
Top notch!!
Congratulations, man!
Stef,
I doubt that the kit would sell for less than 2000au down here.
(I'd probably pay more)..
Cheers
John
