Has anyone seen a clamshell strainer on anything other than a one-ply maple shell?

I haven't seen reference to anything other than one-plys in our catalogs or in the Cook book.

Thanks, all !!

There were many 5x14 Slingerlands (Super Gene Krupa Radio Kings) that had Clam shell throw offs that had 3 ply (usually) mahogany interior shells. Even thought the catalog SAID they'd have a solid shell, like the radio kings and artists, many were sent out with 3 ply shells.

(As were most of the 5 x 13's)

Here's and example of a great deal on a set on ebay that has a 3 ply snare with a clamshell:

That would be a great set to clean up BTW...I love finding those unmolested, together forever sets. I think the shipping is high...

Missed them... they were at $787, and I bid $1125.99... they went for $1150.99 from a new bidder... the other bidders had no bids above $787, they would have sold for $790 if I had not bid....

I think the seller owes me $50 !! ........:)
