slingerland chigaco black n brass badge BDP 4pc set

Loading...

hello friends,

i may have an opportunity to pick up a slingerland 4 piece kit in black diamond pearl in great shape. the seller claims the set is from the early 60's but i thought chicago black n brass badges were late 50's?

i have yet to see the kit in person but i have been reassured the kit is in fantastic condition and all original with great chrome.

i believe the sizes to be 13 16 22 and the snare is a gene krupa model.

based on this limited information, what would u offer for this kit?

thanks to anyone who replies, i wish i had more info and more pictures to show you.

that's the 1956-1959 Chicago black gold badge! that is one of my favorite colors, as you can see what's there not to like about BDP,, try $500.00

The 1956-59 black & gold badge has a script loop at the bottom of the "S". This badge is the 1959-61 version.

By the way... Nice set of drums, v!

hey Sky,

good eye! i looked through the badges on here in the identification section and can not find any other chicago badges that match this one. maybe the brass on the scripted line of the lower S has faded?

awesome man, thanks so much for taking the time to send me that. you are correct, it appears to be a 2nd gen chicago badge.

Sky, in your opinion, what would be a fair price to offer?

thanks again

I'm the wrong guy to ask for pricing. I didn't pay anything for my old Slingerland kit, basically rescuing it from a trip to the dump. I thought I was lucky to score my first drum kit for free ...until I spent about a grand on hardware, cymbals, and repair costs! (And I'd do it again -- I love those drums!)

But even if I was more adept at pricing, I probably wouldn't venture a guess without seeing the drums. Among other reasons, I've seen too many kits that were supposedly in great condition with hack-job modifications that killed their value.
