Hi AlloyBoy!The serial numbers and clear interior date your drums to late 1971 or 1972. Hope that helps!-Mark
Yes it does--thanks Mark!
Keep those drums ! I have a Avante set from the same era. Those are some of the nicest shell's Slingerland ever produced. I also think they are Red Sparkle Pearl. If so they are more a glass glitter type rap. When I rewrapped my orphan 60's Slingerland drums the 13" tom was wrapped in the Red Sparkle Pearl like your set. I still have the wrap off that drum and it could very well match yours. From what I can tell from the pics it will or pretty darn close. If you are going to try and repair those holes and plug them , just let me know and I will send you what you need to patch them. It you go that route. I will try and make a pic and post it of what I have.
I worked on a Slingerland kit a few years back that had holes galore. Pearl mount on the bass among numerous extra holes from Pearl lugs being added. In the end you'd never know, and someone got a beautiful players kit out of it in the end. Great deal for $200, and overall not in too shabby of shape. Easiest way I found to plug holes that size is just get some wood dowels.

Thanks Arch! I've repaired (smaller) holes on bass drums, but these are 1.25" dia. That's a big hole... I'm thinking of getting them repaired and re-wrapped. It's the wrap color that's making me hesitant. I really didn't want to spend the money on getting them all re-wrapped.. I wanted to try to get as close to my current color on the bass drum. Decisions, decisions...

Thanks Vibes for the input! As I mentioned to Arch, I was going to repair/re-wrap the bass drum only. But I want to keep my options open. It's certainly cheaper to (just) repair, and I'm not looking to recondition to sell this set, as you guys mentioned, I'll keep it as a players set. I'm torn because I still believe this is a Sparkling Maroon Pearl. It matches perfectly to the samples found on this site. And if it is, that would make it unique. I like that. I could live with the bass drum being close (Merlot Sparkle?). The rest of the set is clean (kinda-normal wear), no extra holes in any of the drums-they are cleaning up nice. I would like to keep the original wrap on them if possible. I like the uniqueness of these old Slingerland drums. I also own a 1976 Super Rock 51N Custom Cordova set (I've posted a lot on this sight about it, I know haha), but it's unique, and it's in great condition, and it sounds phenomenal. I will sell my other set, the '67ish Slingerland 20/12/14/16 shown in the pics previous as comparison, there's nothing really special about the set, other than its age..nonetheless, sorry about the book...but if you can post a pic of what you got, I'd appreciate it. Thanks again, all, for your input/suggestions. Really helpful!
