I purchased an old set of Slingerland drums at a yard sale. I am not a drummer but I thought my son might have fun learning to play them.
I have taken them all a part and polished up all the metal, got some new/used parts online and have begun putting them back together. I have identified the finish to be green (aqua) satin flame, everything I read says it is very easily scratched and damaged.
My first question: is there supposed to be any kind of gasket type material between the metal parts, lugs, tom mount, etc. and the drum wrap itself?
The drums were filthy and cost very little but they have cleaned up really nice and I don't want to damage the finish through my ignorance.
My second question: there is a piece of rubber hose type material that slides on the tom mount between the tom drums (I believe this is orginal equipment) is there a specific recommended replacement material for this rubber piece?
Thanks for any knowledge you can share with me.Help
