Common sense tells me that this snare is a three ply Maple/Poplar Mahogany shell. The buyer of my kit was really hoping for the single ply maple. I was very up front with him and told him that I thought it was three ply. I am giving him the opportunity to back out of our deal and he is considering doing so (I have not shipped yet so this is easy and the guy is way cool). I did want to verify with you experts that it is in fact three ply. I listed it as a Slingerland Artist snare. The 65 catalog shows this as being one ply maple. Is this a different snare all together or did Slingerland just not necessarily follow the catalog? What is cool about this snare is the birdseye maple look. Thanks guys.
Slingerland Artist Model single ply or three ply? Last viewed: 2 days ago
Looks like a killer drum kit in a great wrap. This is nitpicking. The buyer should just stop worrying and start playing.. life is too short...:)
Looks solid to me. The rings maybe not, the shell looks solid with a wrap.

It looks like a 3 ply. Most Artists (and Radio King) shells after around 1964 were 3 ply.
You can clearly see the three plies in your second photo. Slingerland didn't change their catalog description to "unimold" (3 ply) until many years after they stopped actually using solid shells.
Frankly, I like the sound of the 3 ply drums more.
I see a re-ring, shell and wrap in that pic.

In that photo there's the wrap, a very thin ply, the thick poplar core (or whatever wood it is), then the other very thin ply, then the re-ring.
Well, I think now I do see wrap, Mahogany, poplar, maple now.
It looked like the ring ply at first to me.

Bam! There it is folks. Still a cool drum and the buyer is not being a douche or anything. I'm giving him a moment to re-think because i could tell he assumed it was single ply.
