I've been around for awhile and always leaned on the fence about

"reworking", as it were.

Yes, the true blue would say polish it up and call it a day.

"You were born with that face..."

However, ( O-Lugs and I predicted this ) the time would come

when it's a question of "now what?"

The level of thought and execution that has been seen lately

on these "restorations" warms my heart.

Green Indeed.

Bravo, Ye Players, Craftsfolk and Hobbyist's...

Technology aside, it's not likely we'll see appreciation

for history like this again.

Play On.

I may be a bit biased in favour of the colour but, what a beautiful drum!!! Great job!

Stedi, you know you need the rest of the matching kit. Just a thought. What a beauty it would be though. . . James

Very cool work!

I have actually been thinking along the same lines, but specifically buying an old, beat Yamaha or Pearl marching snare with the intent of doing this to it.

I like the idea of super-adjustable snares and 12 lugs on a rigid shell. I would cut mine as thin as practical (those marching throw off mechanisms tend to be a bit huge) and use it on the set, or as a really sweet concert snare.

The main objective is to get individually adjustable snare wires and a dual side throw-off (like the Ludwig super sensitive) that a few companies used on their higher end marching snares. Synthetic gut might be fun too, for a very different sound as compared to my typical bent wire snares.

Has anyone else been doing this who might have some advice and/or information for me?
