Slinger Stage Band Setup (for Mikey)

Loading...

Mikey,

Here's my stage band setup, exactly like the blue/silver duco finish here originally: http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/images/catalogs/slingerland/1964_slingerland_9.jpg

I got it in trade from one of my old drum students, and it was in super rough shape. I still have both original bass drum heads, a couple tom heads etc.

The other bonus(es) about getting the kit from my student was I got the 12" Zildjian hats, an 18" Ludwig Paiste Standard crash, and then 2 Beverley cymbals (crash&ride)

I wish I could have had the drums repainted w/ a duco finish, but I decided to try my hand at dying/satin clear-coating. I had the snare clearcoated and re-edged prior to the rest of the kit by Resurrection Drums down in South FL. I love this kit, and can't wait to get the bottom head on that rack tom! (thanks for the tension rods!) I also need to reattach the bass drum's badge. The kit no longer has/had the rack tom mount, but I generally use snare stands anyhow.

Man, that finish is stellar! I wish mine still had it, but they still have that sound! Completely different from my other kits. The kick is a monster! Are you able to fit modern heads on yours? I've had to go the American Vintage route.

thanks, and you ae so correct, they have that warm woody sound to them. and yes the heads that i have on it are remo of course!! powerstoke 3 smooth white on the back, emperor smooth white on the front!! the smooth whites sound better than the coated whites do !! on slingerlands i have found, IMHO

Here's my main gigging set. I love the stage band sets...

I have to remember to change the front head when I'm playing with different band.
