Sky Blue Pearl Stewart

Well my latest Bollero left me yesterday & I was itching for a new project. I didn't take me long to pick up this Stewart kit locally. I had most of the missing t-rods, lug inserts and a 20" rim kicking around so i went a little nuts this afternoon just to see how she sounds. In round and easy to tune. All I need now is a new strainer (will post in WTB) and I'll make some legs. I believe this Stewart kit is made by Star, because of the diamond shapes on the end of the consolette, but feel free to correct/educate me if i'm wrong.

Hello funkypoodle,

I love your new Stewart project

The wrap is Awesome

and I would agree they are Star made

I notice you have the mounted tom on a snare stand

are you missing parts to that ?

Thanks Kenwood! I've been lucky with the groovy wraps of late. I do have the complete console & tom mount. I was just in a rush to lay some sticks upon them after all the work this afternoon. I just got it on there and am happy that it doesn't choke the tom much.

Also, my family name is Stewart and it was the first brand of drums I owned. Memories of Christmas '77!

That is a very cool side story there funkypoodle

I have been searching high and low for that same piece

with the hex shaped rod and the round series of teeth

That fits into the female on the mounted tom for my blue satin flame Apollo kit

My last sighting, there was a guy selling a bunch of orphaned Japanese toms

most were in rough shape and missing parts

But one had that exact piece still attached

I practically begged the guy to sell it to me ..but he never even replied .

Ooooh! Blue satin flame! Beautiful kit! This is the first time I have had a kit with that tom mount. Quite a weird little piece of engineering! I'd love to have the complete cymbal arm. I only have the part attached to the bass drum & it looks as weird as that tom mount.

funkypoodle

I am more familiar with that cymbal arm base than I would care to be

I have four kits with that same base including this Majestic kit in red satin flame that has not yet arrived

but only one complete cymbal arm

and my getting the one, was thanks to my pal Richm

I also have a U.S. Mercury kit in the blue satin flame

It is a lot more beat up than the Apollos

and though it does have the same teardrop lugs

The tom mounts are the standard double spade mounts on the rail like on these Majestics
