Hello Gonedrums,
The stands you refer to were used by Star in the early 70's with certainty, but I am not sure what year they first appeared, I think around 1970. The blue set you refer to in my picture is an early 70's kit and I believe the hardware is original to the kit. The cymbal stands, hi-hat stand and snare stand all share the same dsign in this series.
In the 1973 Star catalogue, the stands are referred to as "Hi-Ace", but I have seen it appear under other names too. Perhaps they marketed them differently in different years? I have always loved this stand design for it's simplicity and pleasing appearance. There are also lower-level stands from Star that appear to be the same shape, but are made from flat bar and not round stock, making them somewhat weaker to side force.
I tried a couple of times to upload the catalogue page for you, but it is too large of a file for the Forum. PM me with your email address and I will send it to you, if you want
I do not currently need a snare stand, but if you happen to be making a trip to Port Huron...I am right across the river!
Hope this has helped,
Bryan

Yes this design is excellent. It is similar in make up to Ludwig's Hercules design hardware.
Thanks again! Jim
