Site of Drum City in London, Ringo's OBP

Loading...

Having a drink on the balcony...bored, looking thru the million photos in my i-phone...here is a photo of the site of Drum City in London, now part of China Town. Where Ringo and Charlie Watts and other British drummers did their shopping! The store is now a betting parlor.

Comparing this photo to a 1960s photo, only the little stone decorations in the upper corners of the facade remain.

I'll have a Rogers swan leg hi-hat stand with a pair of washy-sounding thin A Zildjian cymbals. And, make that to go along with an order of Moo Goo Gai Pan and two shrimp egg rolls please. While we're at it, I'll put a fiver down on the number 8 horse in the fifth race in Chelmsford.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Talk about unsustainable. You'd think it would be a museum. I suppose the Beatles are mostly forgotten.

Such a small storefront to have been a major epicenter of the drumming world for a decade or so. Not just due to Ringo but also almost any British drummer who had any fame at that time.

And how different would the landscape of the drum world of today be if Premier had offered a wrap similar to Oyster Black in 1963?

Ha! Yeah, no kidding, K.O.! If the Stones had been first on Ed Sullivan, Ludwig would've had a run on Sky Blue Marine Pearl! Attached photos are from Charlie Watts' display in the Rolling Stones "Exhibitionism" feature that I visited in London in about 2016.

This kit had a Rogers hi-hat and one Premier cymbal stand. The rest was all Ludwig Super Classic.

BTW, I lived in Wauconda and then Crystal Lake, IL for 30 years.
