Is that what is known as 'emery cloth'? I had a mechanic friend taught me to use that on... pistons, I think.

So what's the secret? What is it called, and where did you get it?

Emery cloth is sandpaper with a fabric backing. That would be way to abbrasive on chrome.

So.... extremely fine steel wool? I can't recall the grading , but is that 0000 or something? If not, what IS the product we're talkin' about here?

Post #12 is all I know about the stuff' origin......

A piece the size of your hand becomes the size of a quarter after polishing in combination with Simichrome polish..... it's like air.

It works great for nob parts, I still won't use it on chrome, I think it wouldn't scratch, but would haze the finish, you know?
