Silver Sparkle accent

Hi guys,

I could never afford one of my favorite looking drum kits, the Gretsch USA Custom Limited Edition Piano Black with Silver inlay kit.

But, I was wondering if I could get away with applying Silver Sparkle 'tape' to an all black Renown kit to get similar looks? Is there a high quality 'accent tape' (I don't know what it's called) that would look ok? Or, would I just be making a nice Renown kit look like crap?:o

Though pretty handy with tools and finishing I don't have any experience with applying color accent tape to drums.

What do you guys think? Thanks

You can order a pair of silver sparkle inlays from any of the drum supply houses that sell wrap. Try www.drummaker.com or www.jamminsams.com

or www.precisiondrum.com all of these sell wrap and inlays.

Thanks Jonnistix.

Do you have any experience applying the inlays? Are they actually meant to be 'inlaid' into the shells or can they be applied to the existing finish? do you think it will look ok? (as long as it's applied straight and even that is)

Looks like I have some more reading to do:D

Sorry dude, I miread your post to mean the hoop inlays. That finish is a tad tricky. Cutting all the sections into the exact measurements..you would be best to have the big boys do this, or just start saving your pennies.....

I'm not intending to hijack this thread-- please feel free to redirect me if appropriate....

I have a related question-- I purchased a swatch of silver sparkle with the intention of having some backup inlay material. The swatch is (I believe) cut out to fit a snare drum(s) (roughly 5" wide and about 40" long).

My question is this: what's the best way to cut the swatch down into inlay width strips of (say) 1/2 inch? I'm concerned about doing a clean job by hand. Do I go to a machinist or printer?
