Here's some of mine.

Probably twenty or so more in cases buried in the back yard.

Some of you might recognize some of your old friends here.

From Chicago Dave

I only have four snare drums. Three of which I'm using as toms and a bass.1950s Kent1930s Leedy 13x9, Slingerland 14x10 & 16x10. All single tension. I added extra rods to the two smaller drums. Sounds fat.Currently looking for a large bass drum of similar vintage.

WoW! I'm so impressed with that kit of snares. I'd love to hear it. I really like the 16" bass. That's so cool looking and I bet it sounds great!

Thanks guys. My set was inspired by Fred Young, drummer for Kentucky Headhunters. I grew up seeing their videos on CMT. Quick pic:

For the last ten years I have been saving money and trading up. Then I saw this Ryno's drumset on Cymbalholic.com, and I was inspired to take the plunge.

McDrummer - It sounds really different than other sets I've owned. Very warm, round. Resonates longer as well. I have tried to make recordings, but they don't do it justice. In a couple weeks I'll have access to high quality recording equipment, and I'll see about posting the results.

Single tension drums are a different animal, for sure. If you want a deeper sound, you can tune them down...but you will lose tension on the batter side as well as the resonant side. If you want a higher pitch, you have to crank them...or you can use a light weight reso. head and achieve it without the risk of choking the sound from overcrank. More planning goes into choosing heads for these drums, and I don't have extra money right now. I went with medium weight heads all around, and I'm happy with the results. I like them tuned low.
