That's not a stupid idea - had vaguely considered it. Glad to hear someone who has actually tried it.

Thanks.

OK got the kit - a real beast of a Camco Oaklawn oval badge in maple 24, 14, 18 with an extra Chanute 16 (which goes perfectly with another kit). Reasonable price, very good condition and the only issue appears to be Ludwig tom legs instead of the Camco ones, one missing wing nut and no L-cymbal stand for the bass drum. And Beato bags for everything.

Am in the process of taking off all lugs and hardware (at least from the smallest two) so I can "Russian Doll" them with each drum inside it's Beato bag.

UPS' sight unseen quote today was around 550 USD which is so shocking I just have to give USPS a shot at what, around 20% of the price.

Pix and full description after I've finished packing and shipping the whole thing.

Just a quick thanks to everyone who offered me advice on this thread. As the kit ended up weighing in at shocking 86 lbs it ended up having to go via UPS but I got it quickly and in one piece (and even with the draconian Swedish VAT and duty it will probably still be considerably cheaper than any more conventional vintage kit I could have snagged up here).

Pic in the kit gallery.

Cheers,
