Shipped a shellpack to the USA from Canada

Just a note on shipping price from Western Canada (where I live) to Pennsylvania USA:

I was fully expecting to pay at least $300 to ship the 4pc Gretsch Shellpack (one large box packed by me) to Pennsylvania USA. I was pleasantly surprised when it was only $224 Canadian (Pesos:)). That's only $178USD. I don't think it would be much cheaper within the USA. However, my package is Ground and it will take 7-12 business days and I could not insure it for damage because I packed it (they will insure for damage if they pack it). I think I used 2 lbs of tape - very strong tape here - lots of peanuts, bubble wrap and cardboard liners with very strong cardboard corner triangles.

Thanks for those on the Forum for the packing advice.

I shipped via UPS.

The drums - 14.22/9.13/1616 and 6.5x14 snare with associated hardware.

Gary,

First off, looks good! Secondly, there are ways to insure your shipment via a third party such as insurepost.com. You can even purchase insurance 24 hrs. after you have shipped. Pretty reasonable rates as well.

It makes me mad that WE have to purchase insurance so the shipping company can loose or damage the item. Shouldn't they be the ones with the insurance, after all they are the ones handling the item, make's no sense to me. That like me asking my customer to insure their new cabinets in case I drop one during delivery, just stupid. Sorry for the rant, its early.

Thank you!
