Shell Cleaning

Loading...

I have a set of 60's round badge shells that I'd like to clean. I purchased the drums years ago. My understanding was that they had been wrapped at one time. It looks to me as if a light layer of stain or oil had been applied to the shells but I really don't know the drums history so I'm not sure. I thought I'd try the Scott's wood wash and polish as recommended in the "Cleaning and Restoring" section. I cleaned a small spot and it seems to work well. I don't want to do anything that might harm the shells so before I proceed I thought I'd seek out some feedback. Is this a good place to start? Thanks, Paul

Looks like its working very well.

I know some guys like to condition the wood or wax it or something after cleaning and before reassembly. An expert will chime in...
