Sexy Premier Kit

Hey all,

New to this forum, hoping someone could shed light on this kit, and if it's a good deal?

It's a dealer and they are asking $1695 AUD..

Any help would be much appreciated!

I don't know the exchange rate against the U.S.dollar.Those are nice drums, maybe not completely original(maple stained hoops?)but the cast rims indicate high-line Premiers.Excellent chrome and shell construction.Maybe I'd ask if they are international dimensions,if only for practicality's sake.In the U.S.-$1,000 +.Would be nice if it had all the flat-base stands and the cymbal arm for the bass. They just don't make them like that anymore.....

That comes up to about 1566 US.

They are pretty slick drums and stands. I don't like those odd little hoopty-doops on top of the bass. They look like marching sling clips. Not sure what they are. Anyway, IF it's all original and IF it's in great shape and IF that's African Mahogany and IF they are standard (not metric) heads, THEN they are slightly above the going rate...ever so slightly...just a tiny tiny bit.

That could be a Royal Ace or maybe a Hi-Fi model snare ?

They only made the Ace for about 5 years I think.

I'm not validating or disapproving of the price here, just an observation.........

Thanks guys,

the snare is the 2000 series parallel action.

The listing says birch. This will be my first foray into vintage kits so this is very helpful.

Just bought what i can only estimate is a mid 30s Radio king, 3 point strainer etc, now ill never buy new.

Been doing a bit of online scouring, and it seems to me this is a 1968 kit, but not sure what they made them from? Mahogany seems to have been introduced in the 70s but there's very little info on them pre 70s..

Yep, then that would be about 3 or 4 years after the Ace production, I think.
